Fidia Home, a manufacturer specialising in custom cabinetry and whole-house furniture, upgraded its production capacity with a fully integrated smart factory solution engineered and deployed by EXCITECH. The turnkey line is built to support flexible, high-volume manufacturing, addressing the core challenges of modern custom furniture plants: frequent job changeovers, labour dependency and inconsistent handling of irregular panels.

The complete workflow starts with robotic loading and rotary labelling, feeding panels into precision CNC nesting equipment. Once nesting is finished, an automated unloading and stacking station takes over. Powered by advanced machine vision, the robotic grippers reliably locate, grasp and transfer irregular workpieces. This eliminates one of the most common bottlenecks in custom cabinet production, where odd-shaped or cut-to-size boards are difficult for conventional automation to manage steadily.

A highlight of this project is the matched set of left‑ and right‑hand 588GW servo edgebanding cells. Working alongside high-speed drilling and intelligent sorting stations, these edgebanders deliver consistent finishing quality across a wide range of board materials and edge tapes. Every station on the line runs in tight sync, cutting changeover time between orders and lowering reliance on manual handling.

Unlike rigid production lines designed for mass runs of identical furniture, this EXCITECH automation system is optimised for mixed-batch orders. It allows factories to switch between different cabinet sizes, panel shapes and finishing requirements without lengthy manual reconfiguration.
